In terms of science scope, the symposium will be devoted exclusively to biological and technological postharvest research of fresh horticultural produce. This includes postharvest storage, treatments and underpinning mechanisms, quality evaluation, packaging, handling and distribution of fruit, vegetables and flowers, but excluding grains, nuts and forages.
Abstracts on processing of such crops beyond refrigeration, packaging and minimal processing will not be considered. Presentations reporting novel insights from fundamental and interdisciplinary research will be particularly encouraged. These disciplines include systems biology, bioinformatics, Multi-omics, entomology, plant physiology, plant pathology, (bio)chemistry, engineering, food safety, sensory science, sustainability, International Development, modelling, and technologies for nondestructive testing. The symposium is particularly keen to encourage new and emerging researchers, with a hope that we’ll be able to offer all attendees an opportunity to speak about their research.
