Post-Conference Workshop 

Monday 25th & Tuesday 26th August 2025

We are pleased to announce a Post-Conference Workshop that will be held over two days, 25 – 26 August 2025, at the Lincoln campus of the New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research. The workshop will focus on the chemical and acoustic communication of insects, offering both theoretical insights and hands-on experiences in the following areas:

  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
  • Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)
  • Coupled Gas Chromatograph-Electroantennogram Detection (GC-EAD)
  • Biotremology

The workshop is designed for researchers ranging from beginners to those with intermediate experience. To facilitate a more hands-on experience, attendees will be divided into four small groups so that they can experience SEM, GC-MS, GC-EAD, and biotremology over the two days, with a maximum of five participants per group.

  • Day 1: 25 August (Mon) 09:00-16:00
  • Day 2: 26 August (Tue) 09:00-15:00
  • Fee: NZ$ 160 (covers both days, including transportation and lunch) - can be booked during registration process
  • Programme: TBA
  • Total Number of Attendees: maximum 20 participants
  • Group Size: Maximum of 5 per group
  • Transportation: Provided between Christchurch and Lincoln (approximately 20 km)
  • Lunch: provided both days
  • Certification: A certificate of completion will be awarded to participants who attend the full workshop.We encourage interested participants to register early, as spaces are limited.
