The one-day on-conference field trip will visit natural ecosystems and plantations impacted by Phytophthora pathogens. We will visit the Waipoua Forest and Tane Mahuta, the Lord of the Forest and will learn about the local Iwi (tribe) Te Roroa’s efforts to safe this majestic tree and the wider forest from Phytophthora agathidicida. Along the way there and back we will visit a Pinus radiata stand impacted by Phytophthora pluvialis and several other sites where other groups are actively managing the impacts of Phytophthora agathidicida.
