The 11th meeting of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) Working Party S07.02.09, Phytophthoras in Forests and Natural Ecosystems will provide a forum for current research on Phytophthora species worldwide. The theme of this conference, “Focussed on Forest Health” invites authors to switch focus from the pathogen to the ecosystem and how research helps inform forest management. We invite submitted papers, posters and workshops covering recent developments in research and implementation in addressing the impacts of invasive Phytophthora pathogens.
Research topics covering forest health, Phytophthora adaptation and evolution, surveillance, climate change, diversity, ecology, ecophysiology, epidemiology, experimental taxonomy, geographic origins, invasion and spread, management, the nursery pathway, pathogenesis and resistance, and population biology.

There will be an optional post conference tour to visit Rotorua. This tour will showcase the work the team at Scion have been doing on red needle cast (Phytophthora pluvialis) and will visit several trial sites and areas impacted by the disease. The tour will go from Friday 13 to Sunday 15th September with a return coach to Auckland Airport for those looking to depart on the evening of the 15th. If joining, do not book departing flights that leave before 8 pm on the 15th.
