Australasian Plant Breeding Conference

6-9 March 2028

Christchurch Town Hall
New Zealand

Plant breeding is vital for enhancing food, pasture, fuel, and fiber production globally. As an applied science, plant breeding integrates many disciplines including agronomy, genetics, genomics, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, biotechnology, bioinformatics and data sciences. The key challenges that plant breeders are facing are to develop new varieties that are adapted to climate change, while securing sustainable plant production on limited land for a growing global population. The Australasian Plant Breeding Conference will focus on recent advances in plant breeding across a wide range of sectors, including field crops, horticulture, viticulture, pasture, forestry and floriculture. Over three days, attendees will engage in a series of plenary lectures, thematic sessions and interactive posters. The APBC28 will promote discussions, collaborations and showcase the latest advances in the field of plant breeding.

Registration open: 16 November 2026
